Carlin says he and Schmidt reached out to the creators to incorporate March into the curriculum, becoming the first major school system to do so. Seeing how well the material worked for introducing students to key issues in the Civil Rights movement, they began working with Good Trouble Productions, the company co-founded by Aydin, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Matt Fraction, Valentine DeLandro, and Vaughn Shinall , and with New York-based creators like Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey (Action Philosophers, Action Presidents), to develop comics addressing other topics in the curriculum in ways that would be fun and interesting for students.
