Potentially, it can trigger floods, droughts, hurricanes, tsunamis, forest fires, and power blackouts over entire regions. It can disrupt radar, other communications, agriculture, ecology, and financial and other markets. It can use weather to wage war, and perhaps cause earthquakes like the one devastating Japan. 3 • Reply • Share › Avatar alpage48 bent61 • 12 hours ago I was in Chengdu last weekend. I find the responses were a lot quicker than they were in the Wenchuan quake, less standing around waiting, civilians were more organized. People were warned not to use the stressed communication and transportation systems. Phone system was down but somehow the internet stayed up. Some people were able to send messages and microblogs from affected area. All in all, a much better organized effort. Army rescuers were observed to be activated and sent within couple of hours, in two choppers (American Huey's ?). Other local resources were at the scene much quicker. China, with its trillion dollar reserve, seems to be able to handle rescue and humanitarian aid very well. In the means time, quake struck Pacific east of Taiwan. The antennas emit radio waves to the satellites that can then blast a targeted area with a high frequency sonic wave. You can't hear it, but when they use it a strange rainbow Borealis appears in the sky over the targeted area. It's why the digital cable act was passed into law a few years ago. HARRP requires all the analog bandwidth. It uses so much energy it has it's own power station. The government claims it just does atmospheric tests. The main facility is in Algonquin Alaska but it has seven sister facilities scattered all over the world. Including one in China and one in Russia, Norway and other locations close to the earth's poles. The US Navy operates them all. The patents obtained are truly frightening. Much of the technology was theorized by Nicoli Tesla a 100 years ago. Work on the project began in earnest in the 1990's and it became fully operational once the digital cable TV Act went into effect. 2 1 • Reply • Share › Avatar Baojiu Guest • 5 hours ago Read up on plate tectonics and seismology. 1 • Reply • Share › Avatar Shane Wilson Guest • 9 hours ago Wow, we've had about a normal day in earthquakes. 1 1 • Reply • Share › Avatar Levi Cassidy Guest • 9 hours ago How retarded do you feel? Each year from 1970 to 2001, there was an average of 19 earthquakes reported, with an average death toll of 19, 547. In the ten years before 2012, the average increased to 28 earthquakes disasters per year, with an average death toll of 67, 954. What a dramatic change in death and destruction ! The World Disasters Report 2010 says: "Of all large disasters, seismic events have killed the greatest number of people in recent years." Why the increase ? Jesus identified that during these "last days" (2 Tim 3:1), that "there would be great earthquakes".(Luke 21:11) With the increasing intensity, this points to nearing of "the end" that he spoke of at Matthew 24:14, in which this feature of "the sign of (Jesus ) presence" (Matt 24:3) is also accompanied with several other features, such as the preaching of "the good news of the kingdom" earth wide, to show that we are living in critical times.(Matt 24:4-14) 3 2 • Reply • Share › Avatar Rhonda Clark jaareshiah • 5 hours ago I have a question , What about sonumies, I hope there isnt ,one that happens remember Japan , that was so sad, I love you China, Thankyou for being our friend , We are trying to pay you back, we will all pray for you love. 2 1 • Reply • Share › Avatar Barbara Cook Rhonda Clark • an hour ago Dennis - what is your problem? Wrong. 0 • Reply • Share › Avatar pangea47 jaareshiah • 21 minutes ago Seismic activity varies throughout time, as does volcanism. Some archeologists now believe that the collapse of the Mycenae civilization was partially caused by a "swarm" of earthquakes around 1500 BC. 0 • Reply • Share › Avatar Sharkmann • 11 hours ago 6.6? That would do nothing to most US cities. It is poor construction and a total lack of building codes that causes such tragedies. I was in LA and they got a 6.5 and I think 3 died, but there are a lot more people living there. It was cool to watch the telephone poles dance across the valley, they waved in waves as the tremors passed through the ground. I was Asuza up on a hill. 3 2 • Reply • Share › Avatar Wu Wicky Sharkmann • 11 hours ago The 1971 San Fernando earthquake (also known as the Sylmar earthquake) struck the San Fernando Valley near Sylmar, California at 6:00:41 am PST on February 9, 1971, with a magnitude of 6.6.[1] The earthquake lasted approximately 60 seconds and caused 65 fatalities.[2] 10 • Reply • Share › Avatar FortRandallAK Wu Wicky • 10 hours ago A friend was in enrolled in a motorcycle engine repair school at that time. It was like being in a boat in a big swell that moved you up and down a bit. But I knew I was standing on land. Edit- -Wu has corrected me, I guess it just seemed like 90 seconds. I still though it was cool and fun at the time as I got outdoors quickly so I knew I was in no danger. 1 • Reply • Share › Avatar Wu Wicky Sharkmann • 11 hours ago The Northridge earthquake was an earthquake that occurred on January 17, 1994, at 04:31 Pacific Standard Time in Reseda, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California, lasting for about 10–20 seconds.[2] The earthquake had a "strong" moment magnitude (Mw) of 6.7 The death toll came to a total of 57 people, and there were over 8,700 injured. In addition, the earthquake caused an estimated $20 billion in damage, making it one of the costliest natural disasters in U.S. history. 2 • Reply • Share › Avatar Sharkmann Sharkmann • 11 hours ago TY Wu , I thought it was in 92, I was working on a movie there so it was not my home.I did not know so many people got hurt. Even the strongest building can not hold on 6.6 with 3 kilo depth. Have to admit that the quality of building in Chinese rural area is...too low. You should be comparing yourself to Japan when talking about earthquake proofing a city. 0 • Reply • Share › Avatar Henry Song Sharkmann • 8 hours ago You are partially right about it. Poor constructions are to blame. More earthquake-proof buildings are needed. However, there is another major factor in this: Sichuan Province is in a mountainous area, with many rocky cliffs.
